FKI Logistex Ltd started life under the name of CLECO Ltd. Cleco was formed in the early 1930’s in Leicester (UK). Early products included battery chargers for both cars and pre WW2 wireless sets as well as electric road vehicles.
Always at the leading edge of technology Cleco developed the for runner to the Reach Truck in the 1950’s and man up VNA equipment in the 1960’s.
The 1970’s saw Cleco develop the Maestro, a high lift VNA machine which set the standards for the next two decades.
The development of Automatic Storage and Retrieval Machines (ASRM) in the late 1980’s provided the stimulus to support the sale of a number of large scale automated logistics solutions for blue chip clients.
European and North American operations were opened in the 1990’s providing solutions and products to the Warehouse and Distribution market.
In 1998 Cleco acquired the Io systems software group, who were founded in the late 1970’s & had previously supplied Cleco with Logistic Automation Management Software.
In 2001 Cleco caught the eye of the FKI Group and was subsequently acquired by FKI to provide software integration & solution planning skills within Europe & across the globe. This requirement was successfully fulfilled, culminating in 2008 with orders for projects in both Eastern Europe & China.
In 2008 the FKI group including Logistex was acquired by Melrose plc a highly successful Engineering group.
